About Us

Echuca Moama Family Medical Practice has been Supporting the Echuca Moama Community for over 42 years. We currently have 18 GP’s consulting from our rooms. We are committed to providing quality healthcare to the rural community in a professional caring and compassionate manner. Our operating values of Respect, Integrity, Collaboration and Excellence guide all our interactions and are the measures to which we hold ourselves.

Since opening in 1975 as Nish Street Medical Practice we have undergone several expansions in a bid to provide better facilities and more room for our patients. Operating from 2 clinics our aim is to maintain the feel of a local family practice whilst providing the highest level of medical care. Our Moama clinic services the community of Moama on the NSW side of the Murray River. In 2012 we opened a new purpose built teaching practice offering a working environment that encourages our staff to develop strong relationships with patients, helping us provide better health care and provide an optimal teaching environment for our GP’s in the education of the Medical Students, Interns and Registrars that we have placed with us each year.

Echuca Moama Family Medical Practice has a long history of providing training to students of the medical field, we remain committed to continuing this and developing medical practitioners that have a focus on quality patient care. Our strong relations with Echuca Regional Health allows us to offer our GP’s opportunities to undertake hospital work, specialisations in Obstetrics, Anaesthetics and Emergency Medicine  as well as Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) appointments.

A variety of educational sessions are available for continuing medical education including regular lectures, trauma medicine tutorials and regular journal club meetings covering a broad range of rural medical topics and providing peer support. Prevention Is Better Than Cure

When it comes to our health, prevention is much better than cure.
Many diseases and injuries are preventable, and can be managed much better, minimising the impact on our lives if identified earlier on. A regular check-up with your doctor helps them to assess your overall health and to identify your risk factors for disease.

"Echuca Moama Family Medical Practice has been nothing but wonderful to me! I'm a long time patient and have nothing but great words to say the girls on reception are so lovely and very approachable and supportive, the doctors are amazing.

The team at the practice and the doctors just know how to brighten my day after a visit even if it's just with their smiles !"

PRACTICE NURSES

General practice nursing in Australia identified four different, but overlapping, dimensions of PN responsibilities:
  • clinical care: reflects the nurse’s responsibility to undertake clinical based procedures and activities
  • clinical organisation: reflects the responsibility to undertake activities that require management, coordination and higher level administration of clinical activities, particularly a systems approach
  • practice administration: reflects the responsibility to undertake activities that provide administrative support to the general practice as a business enterprise, and
  • integration that reflects the responsibility to develop effective communication channels within the practice and between the practice and outside organisations and individuals.
